MICHELLE
Michelle Freeman- Popplewell began her love of dance when she was three. She started dancing in ballet and tap and later, started her training in Jazz and Lyrical. At the age of eight, she became a company member at Centre Stage School of Dance in Marietta, GA where she competed across the Southeast in Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lycial, and Musical Theater. When she was 16, she moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, she continued her dance career and began dancing at the School for the Performing Arts. In Puerto Rico, she was also the Co-Founder of the dance team at her high school, Commonwealth Parkville School. In her time in Puerto Rico, she was exposed to many more dance styles such as Modern, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Bomba ( a Puerto Rican folklore style). You can see the influence of these different styles throughout her choreography. Once she graduated high school, she started attending the University of Georgia where she continued dancing with different dance clubs on campus and recreational groups in Athens. In college, she expanded her dance training and began choreographing dances. After college, her passion for dance continued as she began teaching classes at DanceFX Atlanta and continued dancing in the adult companies at DanceFX in both Athens and Atlanta.
She continues to share her love of dance with dancers of all levels. She shares what she has learned throughout her career to not only teach dancers how to dance but also how to perform. In her classes, you will see an influence of where she has been, where she is now, and where she is going with the hope to inspire other dancers. Dance has been such an amazing outlet and form of communication for Michelle and she is honored to share this in her classes.
